CIGRE’s international study committees facilitate international knowledge sharing and development for the advancement of power system engineering. This results in the publication of a wide range of technical resources available here on e-cigre.org. The Study Committees span the end to end scope of power system and are divided into Groups A, B, C, and D.

Group D (New Materials and IT) has two study committees within it below (D1 and D2).

D1 - Materials and emerging test techniques

The scope of Study Committee D1 covers new and existing materials for electrotechnology, diagnostic techniques and related knowledge rules, as well as emerging test techniques with expected impact  on power systems in the medium to long term of information, knowledge, practice and experience, and adds value by synthesizing state-of-the-art practices to develop guidelines  and recommendations.

D2-Information Systems Telecommunications and Cybersecurity

D2 provides guidance, shares knowledge, and develops best practices and publications for the application of information technology to the critical and core business systems in the electricity supply chain, including smart meters, asset performance monitoring and management, energy management systems (EMS), internet of things (IoT) and machine learning/ big data.
