Summary

An examination of the factors influencing utilities, or those segments which are responible for Power Control Centre operations, to examine the risks posed to continuous and satisfactory operations of their enterprises. The forces which generate a need for increased resilience are summarised; the technological developments which act as enabling factors in increasing resilience are summarised. Steps that can be taken to increase resilience are examined. System and equipment design, staff training and business continuity planning steps are also discussed.
