Summary

This Technical Brochure explains how transformer efficiency is calculated and how it can be influenced. It is covering both the aspects of efficiency in design stage and in exploitation. It presents current practices in procuring transformers and how to evaluate losses using capitalisation to ensure that also a cost optimum is reached. Reasons why efficiency is relevant is presented and commented on where it makes sense to make exceptions. Finally, a view of what will be the future of efficiency with the energy mix changing is given.
