Summary

In the light of unlikely event such as reclosing on fault it has been possible to evaluate the confidence in short-circuit withstand demonstration by calculation and to compare it to the withstand of sister units of a tested one.

The result is clear, while sister units of a tested one behave correctly during a fault event, units validated by calculation show all the weaknesses and lacks of the calculation method, even if used with comparison to tested units with similar characteristics.

Therefore, the actual test is a need to ensure reliability and withstand of transformer in operation. Such a test is easily worth the money if several units of the same design are purchased.
