Summary
Support structures in Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) are critical for ensuring mechanical stability, alignment, and the reliability of electrical connections. These structures provide essential load-bearing capacity and vibration control, particularly under seismic conditions.

The critical design loads considered for structural validation include dead load, wind load, thermal load, seismic load in accordance with IS:1893, and short-circuit load, along with the key parameters governing their evaluation. The resulting stresses are assessed against allowable material limits using a safety factor of unity, as load factors are incorporated in the load combinations. Additionally, the bushing bending moment is evaluated and verified against validated allowable values from test specimen data. Forces and moments transmitted to the foundation are also analyzed to ensure overall structural adequacy and stability.
