Summary
Substation inspection is an effective means to ensure secure and stable running of substation equipment and derive further maintenance and testing plan. The existing procedure in substation involves maintenance personnel logging the operation and maintenance (O&M) data in switchyard premise on paper and re-enter the same in Enterprise Resource Planning
Read more Read less(ERP) system after coming back to control room. This consumes a lot of time and effort. Also, in many cases it has been observed that the inspection data are missing at site. To enhance the integrity of inspection data, streamline the workflow, and eliminate redundant efforts, a QRcode based equipment identification and data digitization application intelligent inspection in power grid (I2P) has been developed. This technological integration simplifies inspection processes, accelerates decision-making, and contributes to a more expert workforce by improving awareness and reducing the learning timeline for new site engineers. Subsequently, to rectify the issues documented in daily inspection, headgears are used. The head gear provides an augmented reality for the experts located at remote control centre. The integration of intelligent inspection technologies and augmented reality (AR) into substation asset management indicates a progressive advancement in the power sector. By flawlessly integrating
AR, the operational efficiency is intensified, providing real-time data, diagrams, and maintenance procedures to site engineers through a digital overlay. The combination of intelligent inspection and AR has led towards a shift in asset management practices, addressing current challenges and placing the organization as a leader in technological innovation within the power industry. The paper investigates into the practical application of intelligent inspection for substation assets and the application of AR to address detected issues. With the expansion of power grid the use of advanced technologies will help in forming a resilient and efficient energy infrastructure.
