Summary

In Japan, the renewal and expansion of facilities are increasing due to aging of facilities and increase of electric power demand such as new construction of data centers. The construction period required for the foundation work of substation equipment is long in spite of relatively small scale work, and the long-term confinement of construction company staff is a problem.

In addition, it is difficult to secure workers necessary for the work. Therefore, shortening of the field process is required. Then, for the purpose of shortening the construction period and making it unskilled, the precast method was developed for the foundation work, and the construction method was realized in which the design work was simplified, the construction period was drastically shortened, and skilled workers were not required.

In the examination of the pre-cast concrete development, since the substation is often installed in a narrow place, the development requirements were that it can be transported without using special vehicles such as a large trailer, and that it can be constructed by a small heavy machine to ensure the workability. In order to satisfy these conditions, the method was examined in which the standard foundation was divided and manufactured in the factory, transported to the construction site, and installed in the predetermined position, and then the divided foundations were joined. The application of the pre-cast concrete to the 66 kV transformer foundation was examined, and the same pre-cast concrete was developed to the 154 kV gas circuit breaker. As a result, the construction period for foundation work, which previously required about 40 days, was shortened by 25 days. Pre-cast concrete was also examined for 66 kV gas circuit breakers, disconnects, and arresters, and the construction period was shortened from 36 days to 12 days.

By applying this pre-cast concrete, about 75 % of the total foundation work for substation equipment under 154 kV from 2025 to 2027 can be converted to pre-cast concrete, and drastic efficiency improvement and unskilled construction have been achieved.
