Summary
The operational management of high-voltage electrical substations faces the challenge of interpreting large volumes of technical and operational information that, in many cases, is fragmented across different platforms. This condition limits the ability to comprehensively analyze assets and makes it difficult to anticipate special conditions. In this scenario, digital twins are presented as an alternative for consolidating information and supporting operation and maintenance processes. This paper describes an applied experience in which a digital twin is used as an operational support tool in a high-voltage electrical substation, based on a previously structured digital model. The approach focuses on defining a realistic, operationoriented functional scope and on the progressive integration of operational information associated with the main substation equipment.

Based on this integration, the digital twin was used to analyze common operational scenarios, such as load variations, thermal conditions, and equipment maneuvers, with the purpose of evaluating its usefulness as a support for diagnosis and technical decisionmaking. The results obtained show that the digital twin provides a more integrated view of the substation's operational status and contributes to improving the analysis prior to the execution of actions in the field. At the same time, restrictions related to data availability and reliability are identified, highlighting the importance of adopting progressive implementation strategies.
Overall, the study shows that the digital twin, designed from a practical and scalable approach, can complement traditional methods of operation and maintenance in high-voltage electrical substations.
