Summary

The paper will discuss a Condition Monitoring (CM) system that combines Ultra High

Frequency (UHF) Arc Detection with Partial Discharge Monitoring (PDM). The system uses

UHF PDM hardware to detect PD signals and Arc signals and automatically classify and locate them. This is the first time that Arc detection and Location has been carried using the UHF method and integrated with a continuous monitoring UHF PDM system. The system utilises relative amplitude to locate both Arc signals and PD signals automatically. The machine learning models to classify Arc signals and to locate UHF signals are discussed. The system has been installed on a 420kV GIS. The on-site testing to demonstrate Arc and PD location functionality on a live GIS is discussed.
