Summary
The process of material ageing in silicone elastomers can be categorised into two distinct stages:
Read more Read lessThe early and late stage. As the process of ageing progresses, a transient loss of hydrophobicity is generally observed in the initial stages. This study presents a dielectric diagnostic setup that have been developed for the purpose of evaluating the ageing state of composite insulator polymeric surfaces and interfaces at an early stage. The configuration of the tests facilitates the detection of slight changes in dielectric properties, thereby enabling a more precise evaluation of material condition prior to the onset of visible damage. Isothermal relaxation method is used.
