In recent decades market share of composite insulators used for outdoor high voltage insulation is increasing steadily. This can be attributed to their advantageous properties over the traditional ceramic and glass insulators, among which low weight, higher mechanical strength to weight ratio, resistance to vandalism and better performance in the presence of heavy pollution belong to the most important ones
