Summary

Recently, PD measurement on power transformers in Ultra-high frequency (UHF) band attracts a lot of attentions. However, lack of a calibration or at least a sensitivity check method leads this method to not be used as an acceptance test unlike the IEC 60270 method. In author’s previous works, it has been shown that several parameters severely affect relationship between UHF and IEC methods. The key point to study mentioned relationship is investigating of PD pulse in high frequency (HF) band. In this paper, a study on PD waveforms in HF and UHF bands is performed to examine the feasibility of realizing a close relationship between IEC and UHF methods.
