Summary

This work builds on TB 765, “Understanding and mitigating corrosion”, addressing the causes, detection and prevention of corrosion in cables systems.  The brochure briefly reviews the different causes of corrosion which can affect cable systems and methods of prevention.  Techniques for detecting corrosion, such as, visual checks, hydrogen gas detection, reflectometry, are presented.  Finally the brochure contains a number of case studies.
