Summary
High voltage cable systems consisting of the cable itself and of accessories must be compatible during the lifetime of the system electrically, thermally, and thermo-mechanically. The JWG presents a systematic overview of insulation interfaces in cable accessories and possible failure modes associated with these interfaces. The main parameters affecting compatibility are discussed and their effect in AC and DC operation is analysed. A guideline and possible set-ups for development testing are proposed, and additional tests as well as enhanced documentation during and after qualification are presented. Finally, a new composite parameter for evaluating insulation interfaces is introduced.
