Summary

Overhead transmission lines (OHL) with extensive routing are critical infrastructure susceptible to various threats. Recently, Jiangsu Province adopted an innovative multitechnology approach that integrates satellite-based general investigation technology, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) inspections, and tower-mounted cameras for detailed sideview monitoring.

0.5 m high-resolution satellite data enable monthly land-cover mapping along designated routes. This sophisticated technology, leveraging advanced satellite image recognition algorithms, enables both the identification and classification of various land cover types and the systematic recognition of power transmission towers. Faced with the significant differences between UAV and satellite imagery in resolution, geometric distortion, and semantic gap, as well as the inability to share recognition algorithms, we propose a crossscale matching algorithm based on Vision Transformer (ViT) and multi-criteria metric learning. Furthermore, a dual-feature image matching technology has been developed to solve the cross-scale and cross-angle matching problem between camera images and satellite remote sensing images.

The transmission corridor management system for Jiangsu Power Grid, with three years of stable operation, covers over 15,000 km of OHLs, effectively reducing the burden of routine operation and maintenance (O&M) and improving the operational efficiency of the power grid.
