Summary

The tradeoff between switching losses (SL) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) generation in the basic commutation unit is a very meaningful topic in recent years. This paper focuses on this topic and proposes a tradeoff method between SL and EMI generation based on the equivalent waveform of the IGBT device. Firstly, the switching dynamic behavior of high voltage and high power IGBT devices is modified, and its equivalent waveform is obtained. Secondly, the analytical model of SL and EMI is established according to the generation mechanism of SL and EMI. Then, the influence of driving parameters, the device’s parasitic parameters and the loop’s stray parameters on SL and EMI are discussed.

Finally, taking the equivalent resistance and capacitance of the gate loop as an example, the optimal solution set for balancing SL and EMI is obtained with the help of multi-objective optimization theory NSGA-Ⅱ, which provides the theoretical basis and method for the tradeoff between SL and EMI.
