Recommendations for testing of Superconducting cables

Summary

Advancements in technology and in-grid demonstration projects of superconducting cable systems resulted in the need for test recommendations for AC cables in voltage up to 150 (170) kV. The TB includes a description of superconducting cable technology and cable design options available at the time of publication as well as an overview of the cryogenic cooling system requirements. Test recommendations include routine test, type test and after-laying tests. Recommendations are based on existing industry standards for conventional cables with special considerations for superconducting materials and their cryogenic environment.
